St. Jude’s Ranch opens campus for child sex trafficking victims

BOULDER CITY (KTNV) — St. St. Jude Children’s Farm held the grand opening of its new $25 million Healing Center in Boulder City on Wednesday.

10-acre residential campus First in Southern Nevada community to provide care for child victims of sex trafficking.

The campus includes six residential homes for children and teens, as well as a healing garden and the first trauma-informed school in Southern Nevada.

Opened in partnership with the Clark County School District, the school is specifically designed to connect students where they are with trauma-trained teachers and staff.

St. “This is a place where we really want them to learn to read, learn math and science so they can graduate from high school, but continue to live a life where they are successful,” St. Jude’s said. Farm CEO Christina Vela.

Vela said they hope to welcome their first residents to campus within the next 30 to 45 days and will start by opening one home at a time. At full capacity, they will be able to provide shelter and support for up to 62 people.

Each child will undergo an individualized treatment program, which they estimate will last about a year.

“We will really focus on the stages of change and really help young people understand their grievances,” Vela said. “We hope that during their time here, they have an experience where they meet people who care about them and learn something about themselves, their resilience, and the superpowers they have to live the life of their dreams.”
