Auburn DB transferred from Alabama dismissed from team, according to report

Auburn linebacker Antonio Kite, who transferred from Alabama, has reportedly been dismissed from Hugh Freeze’s team.

Jay G. Tate of Auburn Sports on Rivals reported that missed practices led to Kite receiving cleats from the Tigers.

A product of Anniston (Alabama) High School, Kite is rated a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite in the 2022 recruiting class, the No. 9 player in the state and the No. 167 prospect overall. He signed with Nick Saban’s program after receiving scholarship offers from 15 other programs.

Kite made only two redshirt appearances for Alabama in the 2022 season. In 2023, Kite was a special teams contributor and depth piece in the secondary, logging playing time in 7 contests.

After 2 seasons in Tuscaloosa, Kite entered the transfer portal and landed on The Plains. In AU, Kite played in 5 games of the 2024 season. Tate’s report notes that Kite has logged only 5 defensive snaps since Auburn’s game against Arkansas on Sept. 21.

Auburn is 3-5 on the season heading into its Week 10 game against Vanderbilt. The Kiteless Tiger defense was tasked with containing familiar foe Diego Pavia, now the Commodores’ quarterback after transferring from New Mexico State.
