Jury finds Muncie guilty of triple murder, effective 2022 – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) — A jury Wednesday convicted a 30-year-old Muncie man of murdering three members of the same family in July 2022, the Delaware County prosecutor said.

Devin X. Myers was convicted of murdering Malcolm Perdue, 69, Kyndra Skinner, 51, and their grandson Kyler Musick, 19. After his arrest, it was stated that Myers was from Milford.

Another Muncie man, Daniel L. Jones, is scheduled for a jury trial in the triple murder. He faces two murder charges.

On July 13, 2022, around 4:50 a.m., Muncie Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a break-in, robbery and shooting at a home on South Liberty Street. The bodies of Perdue and Skinner were found with gunshot wounds in the back of the home, police said.

According to police, Jones and Myers drove away from the home in a stolen, dark-colored GMC. Court documents say Myers told Jones he shot his friend in the face, wrapped his body in plastic and then got rid of the body with the help of his girlfriend.

Musick’s body was found near the Muncie reservoir on July 14, 2022. Myers and Jones were arrested the same day.

In addition to the three murder convictions, the jury found Myers guilty of armed robbery; criminal imprisonment; conspiracy to commit robbery resulting in serious bodily injury; and obstruction of justice.

“After the jury returned its verdicts, the Defendant admitted to using a firearm at the time of the murder, which subjected Myers to a sentencing enhancement for the use of the firearm,” Prosecutor Eric M. Hoffman said in a news release issued Wednesday. . Myers also admitted to being a habitual offender due to at least 2 prior felony convictions: battery with a deadly weapon and armed robbery.

As a result, Myers could face sentencing enhancements for being a habitual offender and using a firearm to commit a crime.

The prosecutor said in his statement: “Make no mistake about this; Devin Myers is a very dangerous predator. He brutally murdered three people from the same family.”

Hoffman said he hopes Myers gets life in prison after his sentencing, which is scheduled for Dec. 20.

Jones’ trial is set to begin Nov. 18 in Delaware Circuit Court 5, where Myers was sentenced.
