IPS Officer Accused of Sexual Assault, 27 Others Transferred

Chandigarh: In a major reshuffle, the Haryana government on Wednesday transferred 28 IPS officers with immediate effect. According to the government order, an IPS officer facing allegations of sexual harassment is also among those transferred.

Haryana Police on Sunday said it had launched an investigation after a letter accusing an IPS officer of sexually harassing some policewomen surfaced on social media platforms.

The IPS officer has been shifted from the district where he is currently serving as Superintendent of Police.

Meanwhile, SPs of several other districts were also shuffled and the government also transferred additional pay to three IPS officers.

According to a government order, Alok Kumar Roy has been posted as Headquarters, Human Rights and Litigation, Haryana, Panchkula, Headquarters, Railways and Commando (headquarters), Panchkula.

Following his promotion to the rank of DGP, OP Singh will continue as MD of Haryana Police Housing Authority with additional charge of ADGP, Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau and Director of Forensic Science Laboratory at Madhuban.

Pankaj Nain, Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach) in the Chief Minister’s Office, will also be DIG, Security CID (headquarters), in addition to his current duties.

Vikas Arora will continue his current post as Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, after being promoted to the rank of Additional DGP.

Rakesh Kumar Arya, Inspector General of Police, Telecommunications (headquarters), Panchkula, has been appointed as Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, in addition to his existing duties.

While Yamunanagar SP Ganga Ram Punia has become the new SP of Karnal, Rajesh Kumar has been appointed as SP, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Haryana, SP, Jind.

Mohit Handa has been posted as SP, Karnal, DCP (Crime), Gurugram and Hansi has been posted as SP Maqsood Ahmed, DCP (Crime), Faridabad.

Nitish Agarwal, DCP (Crime), Gurugram, Bhiwani has been declared as SP and Pooja Vashishth, SP, Charkhi Dadri has been declared as SP, Mahendragarh; Jasleen Kaur, DCP (Central), Faridabad has been posted as DCP (Traffic), Faridabad.
