Investigation grows as group continues to steal fuel from gas stations

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Levy County sheriff’s deputies are releasing details of an ongoing investigation into a group stealing gas from various gas stations in North Central Florida.

Authorities say Livan Olano Darias, 25, of Miami, was in a van in a gas station parking garage on Oct. 18.

Deputies soon caught up with Darias, who tried to speed away.

They found a hole punched in the floor of his van, along with approximately 400 gallons of stolen fuel and the equipment used to steal it.

Authorities are investigating more than 14 cases of fuel theft, including in Levy and Marion counties.
