Two teenage boys have been charged after a man and woman were allegedly ‘assaulted and robbed’ in Edinburgh

Two teenage boys have been charged in connection with allegations of serious assault and robbery against a man and woman on Monday.

A 50-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were reportedly at a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Leith Street and Princes Street in Edinburgh at around 10pm on October 28 when they were randomly targeted by a group of people.

Both were injured and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The suspects, thought to be between the ages of 14 and 20, fled towards St James Quarter and Multrees Walk.

Police charged two 15-year-old boys in connection with the incident. The investigation is still ongoing, with detectives confirming they are following a positive line of inquiry.
