DA’s office investigating shooter’s self-defense claim in Target fight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — New charges have been filed against a woman after shots were fired during a fight at a Target in Spring Hill.

According to Spring Hill Police, the woman with the gun was shopping at the store last Wednesday when a child made a comment towards her.

Police did not share what was stated, but the comment led to a physical fight between the gunman and the child’s mother. During the fight, the 24-year-old woman drew her gun and fired. No one was injured as a result of the gunfire.

After reviewing surveillance and cellphone video, Spring Hill police said the 38-year-old mother, who did not fire the gun, was charged with misdemeanor assault.

He was arrested at his home in Spring Hill and will now face charges. The District Attorney is reviewing the other woman’s claim of self-defense.
