Teenager who stabbed student to death at Manor High School charged with murder

MANOR, TexasAn 18-year-old has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a student at Manor High School. Manor the police said.

Police say around 12:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, officers responded to the aggravated assault at Manor High School.

When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Darrin Loving had been stabbed in the chest. The fire department took life-saving measures, but he later died from his injuries.

“There was a student who had multiple stab wounds and was being worked on by emergency medical services. A short time later, we were informed that the student succumbed to his wounds,” said Sergeant. Mary Eaton, Criminal Investigations Section, Manor Constabulary.

Following the incident, the school was quarantined.

Mac Brown Mbah Mbanwei, 18, was taken into custody shortly after the stabbing.

Police said the two knew each other and the stabbing was done with a kitchen knife, but it was unclear what led to the fight.

“What we do know is that this was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the public or students at the school,” said Sgt. Eaton.

Police said Mbanwei was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently in the Travis County Jail.

This is a message no parent wants to receive from their child.

“He sent me messages on WhatsApp saying he didn’t want to be killed. So come and get me. I was working and I just lost my mind,” said Lily Andara, Jayden’s mother.

Students said a video showing the stabbing and its aftermath was sent to the school, traumatizing many students like ninth-grader Jayden Albequerque.

“One of my friends told me there had been a murder and I didn’t believe it until he showed me the video of the incident. At that point I was traumatized. So I hid in the corner,” he said. Albequerque.

“He was just like the dead man lying on the ground with blood everywhere,” Albequerque said.

It scared the parents.

Police arrived at the scene of a Manor High School student being stabbed to death by another student.

Jayden’s mother said that she came running to get him when she heard the news, but was relieved to be reunited with her son.

“It has been difficult for the parents who lost them. I am privileged and happy to have my child here with me,” Andara said.

Other students have difficulty understanding the event.

“It was really shocking because why would anyone do that?” said student Camila Garcia.

“It was a truly shocking, fearful, overwhelming experience. It was awful,” said another student, Jaylen Jackson.

Manor ISD Superintendent Dr. Robert Sormani made a statement after the incident:

“This loss is devastating to our entire community, and our hearts go out to his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. We know words cannot ease the pain, and we grieve together. We understand that this situation creates concern. We will also review security on campuses. Our priority is for all as we navigate this difficult time together.” “It’s about being there for students and staff.”

Schools are canceled at Manor High School, Manor High School and Manor Early College High School from Wednesday, October 30 to Friday, November 1.

Curbside meal service will be available to families at MHS from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be packaged together for pickup. Parents and guardians do not need to bring their children to buy food.

Manor ISD says classes are expected to resume Monday, Nov. 4.

“I was traumatized. I don’t know what to say. After seeing the video, I didn’t want to watch it again,” Albequerque said. “I don’t want to go back. I just don’t want to go back to school.”

The Manor Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is actively investigating this homicide.
