SAN ANTONIO – A 54-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after his roommate cut him in the chest with a meat cleaver during an argument, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 200 block of Pinewood Lane on the North Side.

While the victim was taking his belongings out, an argument broke out between two people. The 41-year-old roommate then pulled out a meat cleaver and cut the victim in the chest, police said.

The roommate was taken into custody at the scene and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to SAPD. His condition was stable.

Police said they were at the home earlier in the day and the dispute had been going on for several weeks.
