Former police officer pleads guilty in child sexual abuse case

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A former Akron police officer pleads guilty charges related to child sexual abuse material.

Geoffrey Parker entered pleas to eight counts in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Thursday morning, prosecutors said. fees include three counts of unlawful use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, three counts of solicitation of sexually explicit subject matter involving a minor, one count of gross sexual imposition, and one count of obscenity involving a minor.

A judge ordered Parker to undergo a pre-sentence investigation.

Parker was placed on unpaid leave in August when he was first charged in the case.

According to a complaint, Parker was accused of sharing explicit videos of sexual acts with minors, photographing a child naked, and then sharing the image online to receive other sexually explicit images of children. Prosecutors say the victim was 4 years old and the crimes occurred in Weathersfield.

Court records show his sentencing hearing is scheduled for Nov. 26.
