Zion Gibbs update: Sierra Chambers charged as accessory to fatal shooting of 7-year-old Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) — A 19-year-old woman was arrested in connection with an incident, Fayetteville Police said Thursday. June drive-by shooting which resulted in the death of a young boy.

Sierra Chambers was charged with accessory to a felony following the June 7 death of 7-year-old Zion Gibbs in the 800 block of Denmark Drive.

Zion he died days later at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Chambers was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $100,000 secured bail.

The case is still under investigation. FPD has not announced the arrest of a shooting suspect.

In September, police announced: weapon used in conflict was found.

Zion was at his home on Denmark Drive when a drive-by bullet shattered the walls and struck him.

Zion was a student at Benjamin Martin Elementary School.

Police also said the gray Chrysler 200 believed to have been used in a drive-by shooting in September was also found.
