Thousands of Wawa-brand cups recalled due to risk of injury – NBC New York

Approximately 60,000 Wawa brand beverage glasses are being recalled Due to the danger of tearing posed by the metal straw of the products.

The Commission urges consumers to immediately stop using these metal straws and contact the products’ distributor, Illinois-based Halo Branding Solutions, for a silicone replacement. If a customer also wants to return the cup, they can receive a $15 refund in the form of a gift card.

Thursday’s notice said affected consumers should not attempt to return these products to Wawa stores. You can find more information on how to participate on Halo’s website.

The recalled cups were sold exclusively at Wawa stores in Alabama, Washington DC, Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland in August of this year. The 24-ounce drinkware came in four different styles.

In a statement released Thursday afternoon, Wawa officials said stores have not sold the cups affected by the recall since August.

“Halo Branded Solutions, one of our reusable mug and cup suppliers, has issued a voluntary recall with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for four 24-ounce reusable cups with metal straws due to potential safety concerns,” a Wawa official said. In a statement shared with NBC10. “Wawa has not kept the recalled metal straw cups in stores since mid-August, 5,433 units were sold.”
