Man accused of stabbing at DeKalb car dealership

DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) – A man shot by police following a stabbing at a DeKalb auto dealership is facing multiple charges, investigators announced Thursday.

Charles Tripicchio, 32, of DeKalb, is charged with armed violence, attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and aggravated assault.

October 23 around 12:30DeKalb police officers responded to 1890 Sycamore Rd. Brian Bemis Toyota of DeKalb was called to . for a disorderly customer with a knife.

Police say Tripicchio attacked dealership employees and suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to an employee’s “extremity.”

When officers arrived, police allege Tripicchio refused to drop the knife and advanced toward them. Police shot the suspect and he was taken to a Rockford-area hospital for treatment.

Tripicchio is said to be under police guard while in hospital. Once released, he will be taken to the DeKalb County Jail.

Illinois State Police are handling the investigation into the use of force.

Investigators say Tripicchio was arrested on a domestic battery charge stemming from an incident that occurred on Oct. 9. He was released from jail on Oct. 10 following a detention hearing, according to the DeKalb Police Department.
