San Rafael man arrested after downtown stabbing

San Rafael police arrested a suspect who allegedly stabbed a man during an argument Thursday.

The incident happened around 3:20 a.m. at the corner of Andersen Drive and Lindaro Street, police Sgt. Justin Graham said. Police detained the suspect there and learned he was involved in a confrontation with two pedestrians.

It was claimed that the suspect stabbed a person and tried to attack a person who tried to break up the fight. Police did not know if the suspect and the victims had any prior connection.

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive, Graham said.

Lucas Novick, 28, of San Rafael, was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and display of a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $50,000.
