Young Thug was released from prison after accepting plea deal

Young Bandit was released from prison. Following a historic lengthy trial, the rapper was released after pleading guilty in the long-running RICO case. The rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, pleaded no contest to the RICO and gang leader charges and pleaded guilty to all other charges, including two weapons and three drug charges.

The judge sentenced him to prison and 15 years of probation for various crimes; this, if met successfully, will lead to a mitigation of the service portion.

After spending two years in prison, Young Thug said before sentencing: “I’m a smart guy, I’m a good guy, and I have a really good heart. I found myself in a lot of things because I was so nice and cool, and I know when you get to a certain height you can’t be like that.” because it could end badly.”

It was a dramatic trial by all accounts. Young Thug changed his plea after the judge asked if he was accepting an unnegotiated plea. He was previously offered another plea, which Thug turned down. That agreement would have allowed him to remain free on probation for 15 years today; if completed, this would allow him to avoid prison time, but if he violated probation he could potentially be put behind bars for 23 years.

Young Thug was first jailed in Georgia in May 2022 as part of a street gang bust. He was one of 28 people named in a 56-count indictment that included violations of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in criminal street gang activity.
