Police: Man stabbed woman in neck in Albany

A man was arrested in Albany for allegedly stabbing a woman.

Johnathan Bonaparte, 33, is accused of stabbing a 40-year-old woman in the 300 block of South Pearl Street near Bassett Street around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Police said the woman had a stab wound in her neck. The woman was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center.

Bonaparte escaped but was captured near Green Street and Bassett Street.

Police said Bonaparte knew the victim and they had an argument.

Bonaparte was charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned Friday morning in Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
