Two out of four police officers from Sangareddy suspended for their alleged role in drug smuggling

Two Sub-Inspectors, a head constable and a constable from Sangareddy district were suspended by Multi Zone II IGP V. Satyanarayana for their involvement in a narcotics case earlier this year.

IGP Satyanarayana said Sub-Inspectors Vinay Kumar and Ambariah, along with head constable V. Maruthi and constable Madhu, allegedly allowed drug smugglers to pass through the checkpoint in Nizamabad in January 2024, taking cash.

“Their involvement came to light after the drug offenders were caught and call data records showed calls made to the police officer in January. Although the officer initially denied involvement, he later admitted that they had first caught the men in Nizamabad and dropped them off at Narayankhed, allowing the drug consignment to pass through.” He did,” the IGP said.

Interestingly, SI Vinay Kumar was also involved in the alleged illegal sand mining and transportation and was attached to the Vacancy Reserve (VR) along with other officers in the state.
