Teenager pleads guilty to murdering Edinburgh woman in street

Iain McSporran KC, defending, told the hearing that after speaking to the boy he “accepted that there was no possibility that could be put forward in self-defence”.

The footage showed the boy and another person, both dressed in black, on Duke Street at around 7.45pm when they encountered Ms Davidson on an electric scooter and a man named Conlan Carr walking in the other direction.

An argument then broke out involving the boy’s father, who had been drinking with another man named Steven Warns at a nearby bar.

In the footage, the child’s father, Mr. Warns, Mr. Carr, who is holding a knife, and Ms. Davidson can be seen arguing.

The boy then appeared and also pulled out a knife; Meanwhile, his electric scooter was seen being pulled off the ground and dropped by Mr Carr and Ms Davidson.

He then approached Ms Davidson, stabbed her several times and punched her.

The woman, who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, later died.

The boy was caught on camera entering the women’s toilet at a supermarket, then changing his clothes and reappearing.

The full statement of facts will be heard on Monday and Judge Lord Arthurson has remanded the child into custody in the meantime.
