Venice Beach in Sarasota County reopens after hurricane repairs

SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Venice Beach has reopened following repairs and improvements caused by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, officials announced Friday.

As of Nov. 1, restrooms, concessions and parking are now fully available at the Sarasota County public beach. Lifeguards are also on duty again.

Additionally, all city parks, including Centennial West Blalock and Heritage, have now reopened to the public.

The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota conducts regular water quality tests. Officials warned families to be careful as there could still be large piles of debris near beaches and parks.

Both hurricanes hit the region hard, causing many beaches to close. However, the district slowly started to welcome visitors again. It has reopened multiple times in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, in Manatee County, authorities reopen Anna Maria Island After being devastated by Hurricane Helene’s storm surge. It was the first public beach in the area to reopen since the storms.

As allegations mount that the DeSantis administration is misusing taxpayer money to influence voters on abortion and marijuana issues, a political communications expert says the state’s actions are merely unprecedented but dangerous.
