Husband and wife accused of rape and human trafficking

CAPE TOWN – A Western Cape couple, aged 46 and 38, have been arrested on charges of rape and human trafficking.

The arrest was made by a multi-disciplinary team comprising the Western Cape Priority Crime Investigation Directorate, SAPS K9 Unit, Melkbosstrand SAPS, Department of Social Development and Department of Health.

Various role players, including other government departments and non-governmental organizations, were involved in investigating this issue.

The couple’s two young children were taken into the care of social workers at the Department of Social Development and will be taken for medical examinations, according to a statement from the Hawks.
