During the trial, jurors learned Whipple dragged the girl into the basement under the guise of playing hide and seek.

On Friday, the victim asked Richland County victims’ attorney Jamie Akers to read her impact statement for the court.

“What you did to me is something I will never forget,” the girl wrote. “I lie awake at night wondering why this is happening to me. Why did you wake up one day and think of doing this to me? It traumatized me.”

The victim explained that the abuse drove him to cause bodily harm to himself.

“I still think to myself every day about what happened and I just sit there silently and think about putting an end to it all,” the girl’s statement said. “I will never forgive you for what you did to me, and it will scar me for the rest of my life.”

‘Life without parole’

The judge said the girl showed “great strength” by appearing in court. He said his “childhood was ripped away from him” but now he has the chance to rebuild his life.

“But, Mr. Whipple, that won’t happen to you,” Naumoff said. “It’s not like that.”

The judge said Whipple will remain a Tier 3 sex offender for the rest of his life and must submit to DNA testing because he is a sexual predator.

He then explained the man’s sentences: first degree felony rape.

“The court will impose a sentence of life in prison without parole,” Naumoff said.

He declared the same for the next rape charge, explaining that the second count would be served consecutively, meaning the life sentence would not begin until the first life debt was paid.

“All remaining counts will be submitted at the same time,” Naumoff said.

The judge sentenced Whipple to six more life sentences, eight times to 10 years to life, and once to 15 years to life. The remaining sentences ranged from 12 months to 4 years.
