Man accused in 2022 Peoria murder pleads guilty

PEORIA (25News Now) – A man accused in the 2022 Peoria shooting that killed a man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Lamarion K. Wright, 19, pleaded guilty Friday, the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Left shooting in 2022 Christopher L. Tillman, 46, has died. The incident took place on September 20, 2022, near the then-Taft Homes in Peoria.

This was Peoria’s 18th homicide that year.

Around 9 p.m. on Sept. 20, Peoria Police were called to the 600 block of Northeast Adams Street and found Tillman shot four times, three in the back and once in the right arm.

He later died in hospital.

Surveillance video later obtained by police showed Wright, who was identified by a police officer and a witness, chasing Tillman with a gun in his hand and shooting at him.

Wright was 16 at the time of the murder and was automatically charged as an adult due to his age and the charge.

In exchange for confessing his crime, his sentence was limited to 50 years.

He will be sentenced on December 30.
