Independence man accused of sexually abusing a minor

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (IOWA NEWS NOW) — A Buchanan County man is facing charges related to the alleged rape of a minor earlier this year.

Jarrid Robert Campbell, 35, was arrested Thursday and charged with two felonies, including sexual abuse.

The survivor first went to police in August and said they had been assaulted by Campbell the previous week, the criminal complaint said. They added that Campbell had been abusing them for years.

Investigators conducted a search and found DNA evidence linking Campbell to the scene of the alleged assault.
