22-year-old young man was killed in a fight over exploding crackers | Mumbai news

MUMBAI: A 22-year-old man was killed on Friday following a dispute between him and some people over the explosion of fire crackers in Sion. The deceased had previously intervened in a dispute involving the attackers and police are investigating whether he was attacked in the early hours of Friday due to old rivalry.

According to Antop Hill police, the victim, 22-year-old Vivek Gupta, was an electrician by profession and was a resident of Jai Maharashtra Nagar, Kokri Agar, Antop Hill. While he and his friends were bursting crackers around 12.50 pm on Friday, Kartik R Mohan Devendra, a resident of the same area, warned them not to do so as he was blocking the road.

“When Kartik returned after some time, he saw Gupta and his friends still bursting fireworks. The police officer said that the argument between them quickly turned into a fight.

Kartik left in the middle of the fight and returned with four other accomplices, including Vickey Devendra, Miniappan Devendra, Kartik Mogan and his wife. “The defendants were sticks and knives. The police officer noted that after arguing with Gupta, he stabbed him several times and fled the scene.

Gupta suffered injuries to his chest, abdomen, back and hands. The person, who was urgently taken to Sion hospital by the police, was declared dead while receiving treatment.

Later, Kartik, his wife and three other male accomplices were arrested under sections 103 (murder), 189 (unlawful assembly), 191 (rioting), 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. was arrested. Police said that there are relevant sections of 2023 and the Indian Arms Act.

Kanhaiya Gupta, father of the deceased, said that his son had earlier gone to resolve the dispute between Kartik and his friend and that was probably why he was attacked.

“After the incident, Kartik and others had come home to look for my son. However, they left when they realized that he had no role in this incident. However, they came again and attacked for another reason,” he said.
