32-year-old man arrested after England captain Ben Stokes’ home was raided by masked gang

Durham Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with a burglary at the home of England Test captain Ben Stokes, in which masked intruders targeted the property while his family were there and he was not on international duty.

The incident occurred on 17 October while Stokes was leading the England team in a Test series in Pakistan. His wife and two young children were at their home in County Durham when the masked thief broke in and stole several valuable and personally important items.

StokesThe OBE medal, awarded in the 2020 New Year Honors list for his important role in England’s 2019 ODI World Cup victory, was also among the stolen items. Other items taken included a Christian Dior handbag, a gold ring bearing the England cricket emblem and several bracelets, as documented by Stokes herself on social media. The 33-year-old expressed concern about the incident, especially for the safety of his family.

“The worst part of this crime, by far, is that it occurred while my wife and 2 young children were at home. Thank goodness, no one in my family was physically harmed. But the experience had an impact on me as well. In a post on Instagram, Stokes wrote: “All we can think about is how bad this situation could be.

Officers continue to appeal for information: Durham Constabulary spokesman

Durham Police confirmed the suspect, from North Yorkshire, was arrested overnight on suspicion of theft. The person was released on bail while the investigation into the incident continues. Law enforcement is still actively seeking information regarding the incident.

“Officers continue to appeal for information and anyone who can help is asked to call 101 quoting incident 543 of October 17,” a Durham Constabulary spokesperson said, according to News18.

Meanwhile, Stokes was leading England when the theft occurred, resulting in a disappointing 2-1 Test series loss to Pakistan. The Three Lions currently sit sixth in the WTC points table with 40.79 PCT.
