Woman ‘traumatized’ after being pushed to the ground at knifepoint in ‘sexually motivated attack’ in Co Derry – The Irish News

A woman in her 20s was left “traumatized” after being pushed to the ground at knifepoint in what police described as a “serious assault with a sexual motive”. CoDerry.

The attack took place on: Drumahoe Around 22:00 on Friday. The woman was walking in Drumahoe Park when a man approached her from behind.

He punched her, pulled her into nearby trees and pushed her to the ground. Police said it was knife point. The woman struggled with the attacker and managed to hit him in the face several times with the torch before she was able to escape and run to help.

Police The teams arrived at the scene and searched for the attacker, who escaped from the scene.

Detective Inspector Ross Olphert said: “Understandably the victim is traumatized and extremely distressed by this ordeal. “Our specialist officers continue to support him today and a full investigation is ongoing.

“Attacks like this are an attack on all of us. Women should be free to live their lives free from any threat.”

Authorities asked anyone with information to contact police.
