Sault news: Warning after candy distributed from cart was tampered with

Police on Sault Street. Marie said a suspect was handing out Halloween candy in the vehicle, which appeared to have been tampered with.

Police were alerted on 1 November.

“The candy in question was a box of Smartie brand chocolates that appeared to have holes in them and the box was wet,” police said in a statement on Saturday. he said.

“The candy is believed to have been collected from someone distributing candy from his vehicle in the vicinity of John Street and Albert Street.”

Luckily no sugar was eaten. No person or vehicle was identified and no charges were filed.

But police said the incident “is a reminder to parents and guardians to check items collected by children on Halloween to ensure they are safe to eat.”
