Record-Breaking Day Gives Ole Miss Football a Big Win Over Arkansas

number 19 Ole Miss Rebels He had a record-setting performance in a 63-31 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville on Saturday.

Saturday marked the Rebels’ third all-time win in Fayetteville (7-2, 3-2 SEC), and it came after a stifling defensive performance coupled with an explosion of offensive production.

Ole Miss’ offense stalled near the goal line on its first possession, but the defense picked up the slack with a sack and fumble by Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green, which was recovered for a touchdown in the end zone by Rebel linebacker Princely Umanmielen.

Arkansas would respond with a field goal, but Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart connected with tight end Dae’Quan Wright for a four-yard touchdown pass to extend the Rebels’ lead. This was part of Dart on the Day’s six pass rushing performances, five of which went to wide receiver Jordan Watkins. Set a new program record for goals scored in a single game and receiving yards (254).

Watkins made touchdown passes of 62, 66 and 3 yards in the second quarter to give the Rebels a 35-10 lead at halftime.

The second half was much the same as Ole Miss’ offense; Watkins recorded an 11-yard and a 62-yard field goal in the third quarter, sandwiched between a one-yard touchdown run by JJ Pegues.

While both teams scored seven points, the reserves dominated most of the fourth quarter. Ole Miss backup quarterback Austin Simmons threw a touchdown pass in this frame.

Ole Miss’ offense finished with 694 total yards, 562 of which were passing, and the Rebels were struggling to establish a consistent running game even before the start. running back Henry Parrish Jr. left the game due to injury late in the second quarter.

The win also saw Dart become the all-time total offense leader at Ole Miss, breaking the school record for touchdown passes in a six-point game and setting a new school record for passing yards in a single game (515).

Although the Rebels defense gave up 31 points, they still had a solid day of production, recording eight sacks of the Arkansas quarterback. Linebacker TJ Dottery and linebacker Princely Umanmielen led the way in the sack category with two points, while Dottery also had 2.5 tackles for loss.

Ole Miss’ win this weekend sets up a big showdown for a College Football Playoff chance next week in Oxford with the Georgia Bulldogs coming to town. Kickoff for this game will be at 14:30 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
