1 child injured in rollover crash on I-70 overnight

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – A 9-year-old child was among three people injured in a rollover crash that occurred overnight on I-70 in Kansas City.

Kansas Highway Patrol It states that just after 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, emergency crews were called to the area of ​​westbound I-70 and 18th Street for a report of a two-vehicle collision.

When first responders arrived, they said they found Darius Anderson, 22, of Kansas City, driving a 2013 Dodge Avenger westbound in the first lane. Meanwhile, Deondre Thompson, 32, also of Kansas City, was driving his 2014 Ford Edge westbound next to Anderson in the second lane.

State Troopers said Anderson attempted to change lanes into the center lane and struck the side of Thompson’s Ford. Due to the impact, Edge veered off the road to the left, hit a barrier and rolled over.

Thompson and her two passengers, Brittany Reed, 30, and Mya Howell, 9, both of Kansas City, were taken to the University of Kansas Medical Center with suspected minor injuries, emergency crews said.

Law enforcement officials noted that Anderson escaped the crash uninjured. Everyone involved was wearing seat belts at the time.
