Police investigating allegations of historic sexual offenses against Russell Brand have submitted a dossier of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: “Following an investigation by Channel 4 Dispatches and The Sunday Times in September 2023, the Met received numerous reports of sexual offenses from women in London and elsewhere in the country.

“A file of evidence has now been forwarded to the CPS for consideration.

“As part of the investigation, a man in his 40s was questioned by police officers on three separate occasions.

“These interviews concerned a number of non-recent sexual offenses which were alleged to have occurred both in and outside London.

“Officers continue to support the CPS as part of their investigation.”

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, whose team led the investigation, said: “We have a dedicated team of officers who provide specialist support to the women who come forward.

“We are committed to investigating sexual crimes, no matter how long ago they allegedly occurred.”

Brand denied the allegations against him and said their relationship was “always consensual”.
