54-year-old woman stabbed on BART train in San Francisco; police are looking for the suspect

SAN FRANCISCO– A 54-year-old woman was stabbed in an unprovoked attack on a BART train in San Francisco Saturday morning, according to BART police.

Police released a photo of the suspect Saturday, several hours after the stabbing, which occurred at 8:10 a.m. near 24th Street/Mission Station on an Antioch-bound train.

The victim was assisted by a station attendant until police arrived and he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said in a news release.

It was stated that the suspect was probably Asian, 1.80 meters tall, weighing approximately 160 kilos, with black braided hair in a knot on the top of his head and a moustache. He was wearing a simple black leather jacket with orange lining, a black shirt with a large white logo, gray and black cargo pants, brown and black boots, and was carrying a duffel bag.

Following the attack, the station was closed for approximately 45 minutes.
