California man arrested for sexual assault in US national parks

A Pacifica man accused of multiple sexual assaults in U.S. national parks has been arrested, Pacifica police said Saturday.

Jason Crist was arrested at his home around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Crist is accused of sexually assaulting multiple victims at different national parks, according to Pacifica police.

Pacifica police, along with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. National Parks Marshals Service, said the investigation into Crist began in January 2022.

They said they were able to identify multiple victims but did not specify specific national parks.

Aside from national parks, some of the alleged attacks also occurred in Pacifica.

The 38-year-old man was sent to Maguire Correctional Institution in Redwood City. He has since been released on a $500,000 bail.
