Police announced that the cyclist who was hit by a driver escaping from a traffic stop diedThe crash happened Saturday night in Washington Heights.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) — A minivan fleeing a traffic stop in Washington Heights struck and killed a 28-year-old bicyclist, police said.

The accident occurred at 9:42 p.m. Saturday at 155 Street and Broadway.

Investigators said the blue Toyota minivan was traveling eastbound on 155th Street at a high rate of speed when the driver struck the man on the bike.

The minibus fled the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

Further details were not immediately available.
