PortSt. Man who made explosive threats at Lucie Wawa was detained

PortSt. According to St. Lucie Police (PSLPD), a man remains in custody facing multiple charges following an incident Sunday morning.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) notified PSLPD received a call from a man in a black Jeep claiming to be carrying a bomb and needing gas.

The suspect, 39-year-old Jeremy Wooster, exited I-95 and headed toward the Racetrac on Gatlin Boulevard, where he happened to catch the attention of an FHP Trooper who was fueling up.

In a statement, PSLPD said, “He said that it would be better for the military to support him because he had a gun and a bomb.” he said.

Wooster then went to Wawa on Tradition Parkway.

Wooster then intentionally crashed into occupied law enforcement vehicles as officers and troopers at Wawa attempted to prevent the individual from driving away again.

Police successfully immobilized Wooster’s vehicle and he was taken into custody by SWAT officers.

A search of the vehicle did not reveal any explosives or weapons, but further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been stolen out of Palm Beach County.

No one was injured during this incident.

Wooster was charged with multiple counts of:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Felony Mischief,
  • To Run and Escape
  • False report of the planting of a bomb, explosive or weapon of mass destruction or the violent use of firearms
  • Grand Theft Auto
