CVS Customer Says Pharmacist Had Nervous Breakdown After Allegedly Had to Work on Herself

Footage of a CVS pharmacist having a nervous breakdown and closing the pharmacy early has been circulating on social media, with many viewers labeling the employee “unhinged” and “unfit to work.”

Although he is seen yelling at customers in the video, the underlying circumstances that pushed him to this breaking point are still unknown. Some viewers urge others to show compassion to the pharmacist instead of hasty judgment.

Video footage shows a CVS pharmacist yelling at customers and closing the pharmacy early.

Footage of a confrontation between a pharmacist and a customer was captured by another CVS customer and later posted on TikTok. The original video was reposted, although it was later deleted.

The customer on camera allegedly had cancer and needed to take a certain medication. However, the pharmacist claimed that according to the system, the customer had already received his medication, so he could not allow a refill.

Things quickly escalated and the pharmacist appeared to be having some sort of breakdown, exclaiming, “I can’t do this anymore!” he shouted. and closing the pharmacy.

The pharmacist said, “I’m going home!” he shouted. “I can’t be a punching bag anymore.”

He added to a manager off-camera: “Fire me if you want!”

The video received more than 2 million views before it was deleted.

While some viewers scolded the pharmacist, others emphasized the need for compassion.

Some people online insisted that the pharmacist deserved to lose his job and said his reaction proved that he could not be trusted with people’s medications. Others, however, saw an exhausted person who was clearly at his wits end.

“That poor woman. I can hear the pain in her voice,” one TikTok user commented. “I’m glad he kept his peace.”

“Hopefully he can clear his head and feel better. “He said he was tired of being a punching bag, there was definitely more to the story,” another commenter wrote.

Some of the commenters were former pharmacists who knew all too well how tiring the job could be.

“I was a pharmacy technician for over 10 years, mostly with CVS. “My heart breaks for this poor technology,” one user admitted. “You can’t understand it until you experience it. I felt like I was drowning almost every day.”

CVS Pharmacy has a history of overworking its pharmacists and keeping its doors open even when understaffed.

In 2023, CVS pharmacists went on strike to protest “unsafe and stressful working conditions resulting from a widespread lack of suitable staffing.” According to NPR. They feel overworked and underappreciated.

“CVS doesn’t treat its people well at all,” he insisted. “I left in 2018 because my soul was ripped out of my body (and) my sanity is gone. “I couldn’t do this anymore.”
