Tiger Woods' ex-trainer lashes out at Rory McIlroy: 'What do I know'

Tiger Woods’ former trainer Hank Haney thinks: Rory McIlroy The Northern Irishman is “finally on the right track” after revealing the swing changes he is currently working on.

McIlroy, 35, gave an interview. Golf Summary where he reveals what he is trying to change.

This causes McIlroy to miss his shots; As was evident in the closing stages of the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No.2, where the Ulsterman collapsed in epic fashion.

McIlroy has identified the error in his swing in 2023, and his frustration was made clear in an episode of Netflix docuseries Full Swing when he revealed to caddy Harry Diamond in the locker room that he wanted to completely restart his swing.

He said he felt the problem stemmed from a bad takeaway, and if he could fix that it would lead to straighter shots.

Haney reacted to the video on X by saying, “I’m on the right track, but what do I know?”

This isn’t the first time Haney has offered his unfiltered thoughts on McIlroy.

Immediately following the 2024 US Open, Haney suggested that McIlroy’s caddie, Diamond, was partly to blame.

McIlroy shrugged off these harsh words.

If he wasn’t willing to listen to Haney’s advice, he said, he certainly wasn’t willing to listen to his criticism.

McIlroy has previously said of Diamond’s detractors: “They’re never there to say Harry did a great job when I win, but they’re always there to criticize when we don’t win.”
