An internal disciplinary case will be filed against the female police officer who slapped her in public (VIDEO)

Police said they were disappointed with the officers’ actions and confirmed charges had been opened by both parties.

Police have confirmed that an officer caught assaulting a member of the public will be investigated.

Over the weekend, a video emerged showing a uniformed officer working at Tsakane police station’s customer service center (CSC) getting into a heated argument with a member of the public.

Police confirmed that the man who was shot had filed an assault case against the police, who responded by filing a case of their own.

In the video, a man at the CSC counter asks the officer why he didn’t help the woman sleeping on a nearby chair.

The officer responds by questioning whether he was filming their interaction. Their conversation turned into threats and resulted in the officer hitting the man.

Gauteng police acknowledged the incident and noted with “disappointment” that the incident was recorded on camera.

“This behavior is unwarranted and the police code of conduct advocates treating customers with respect and honesty at all times,” police spokesman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said.

“Both the Sergeant and the public filed assault and criminal assault cases against each other.

The colonel said, “An internal disciplinary case will be filed against the sergeant.”

Allegation of attack on Middleburg tavern

Meanwhile, police say no formal charges have been filed after patrons were allegedly assaulted at a Middleburg tavern.

Video footage shows police officers pouring drinks on customers, hitting some with billiard sticks and assaulting others.

Officers are believed to have thrown stun grenades during the raid before forcing customers to lie flat on the ground.

Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) told Middleburg Observer He said that complaints will be examined if they reach them.
