71-year-old woman injured by stray bullet in northwest Atlanta shooting

ATLANTA – Atlanta police are searching for the gunman in a Saturday night shooting that sent a 71-year-old woman to the hospital.

The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Harwell Place NW shortly before 8 p.m., authorities said.

According to investigators, the 71-year-old victim heard multiple gunshots near his home.

When the woman went to the window to check, she was hit by at least one bullet.

Paramedics took the victim to a local hospital. Officials say he is thankfully expected to survive his injuries.

Investigators have not released the victim’s name or what led to the shooting.
