Former Tallahassee lawmaker Loranne Ausley injured in bicycle accident Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Former Florida District 3 Senator Loranne Ausley is recovering from neck surgery following a bicycle accident Saturday, according to her husband, Bill Hollimon.

Hollimon announced the news Sunday evening on X, formerly Twitter. He wrote in part that Ausley was injured while participating in a triathlon in North Florida. Hollimon shared that Ausley had a “successful surgery” and was surrounded by family and friends while he recovered.

“This is Loranne’s husband, Bill Hollimon. Many of you may know that Loranne had a bike accident yesterday during her triathlon in North Florida. She had successful neck surgery this morning and is in stable condition. Her family and friends are here with me.

Leon Democrats Chairman Ryan Ray shared a statement regarding Ausley’s recovery Monday morning. “We are sending our healing thoughts and prayers to Senator Ausley and wishing him a full and speedy recovery,” Ray said.
