The last tornado warning expected for the region was issued for areas south of Seminole and moving towards the northeast.

The threat of severe weather remains in some parts of the state. A tornado watch covering central and eastern Oklahoma will be in effect until 6 p.m.

OG&E reported that severe storms caused damage, including downed power lines, more than 209 broken utility poles, 68 broken cross arms, 70 transformers, and damage to 64 transmission structures and other equipment throughout its service area.

More than 1,000 OG&E restoration personnel are repairing the grid and restoring service to homes and businesses that can accept electricity.

As of 11:30 a.m. 94% of OG&E customers who experienced outages due to Sunday’s overnight storm were repaired within 24 hours. OG&E said Monday’s storms caused additional damage and outages, slowing restoration efforts because crews could only work when it was safe to do so.

As of 11:30 a.m., approximately 9,000 customers could not be served. Of that number, 4,600 experienced power outages due to today’s storm. Estimated restoration times will be published when ready.

This area of ​​the storm front contains the only active tornado warning in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office and OG&E are working to install new power lines on Kalidy Drive after a weekend storm damaged previous lines.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Aaron Brilbeck said OG&E has asked all traffic from SE 15 in Harrah to Kalidy Drive to leave the area. Brilbeck said that teams worked on laying new lines from last night until the morning.

“Their concern is that the lines may not be safe for people due to new storms,” Brilbeck said.

The National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for the eastern and southeastern parts of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

The risk includes Shawnee and Tecumseh. Oklahoma reporters in those areas heard tornado sirens around 10:34 a.m.

The area southeast of Interstate 44 is being monitored most closely by the NWS in Norman for tornado potential this afternoon. This includes the towns of Shawnee, Ada, Ardmore and Durant.

National Weather Service meteorologists in Norman said the next round of storms will pick up late this morning or early afternoon and move eastward across central and south-central Oklahoma.

All hazards (flooding, destructive winds, large hail, and moderate tornado risk) are possible with these storms. The NWS Storm Prediction Center said: tornado watch likely to be issued either within the next few hours or around midday.

The risk of tornadoes and severe storms is highest in areas east of Lawton and Oklahoma City.

According to NWS Norman, parts of southern, southwestern and south-central Oklahoma will likely experience severe storms between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Severe risk for south-central, central and northern Oklahoma is highest between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Most of Oklahoma, except for some counties in the west and northwest and the panhandle, is also under a flood watch until 6 p.m. Monday.

Oklahoma City residents woke up to tornado sirens and pouring rain again Monday.

This was just the first wave of severe weather expected for Monday morning.

The National Weather Service in Norman said another line of storms, potentially stronger than the storm that passed through the area early Monday, was expected to move toward central Oklahoma around 10 a.m.

Rain, wind gusts (60-80 mph), hail (up to golf ball size) and tornadoes could be possible in the second storm line, the NWS said.

By 6:45 a.m., the second line of storms was passing through Frederick, Snyder and Hobard in western and southwestern Oklahoma.
