Man charged with robbery and knife attack | Guam News

A man has been accused of breaking into a flat in Yigo and attacking another man with a knife.

Early Sunday morning, officers with the Guam Police Department were called to a residence in Yigo for a reported home invasion and upon arrival found two men engaged in a physical struggle on the balcony of a third-floor apartment.

One of the men was identified as Befery Eram, who is accused of breaking into a woman’s home and attacking her boyfriend with a knife, the judge said in the complaint filed with the Supreme Court of Guam.

When police arrived, Eram was being restrained by the woman’s boyfriend and eventually separated them. Officers later found the front door of the apartment had been kicked in and the door jamb and locking mechanisms had been broken. The complaint stated that the woman’s boyfriend also had abrasions on his neck.

The woman and her boyfriend later reported to police that they “heard a loud bang outside the apartment, near the front door.” The man went to see where the sound was coming from.

“He went out to the balcony and heard another explosion, then saw the front door open. Eram, who then entered the house, went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. Eram noticed (the man) was on the balcony and ran towards him, holding his hand. The knife was then used, the charging documents state. It was stated that he lunged at (the man) and tried to stab him.

The woman explained that she knew Eram but had not seen him for a year and was not allowed to go to his house without permission.

Eram was arrested at the scene at 2:50 a.m. Sunday and has since been charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, and aggravated assault, a third-degree felony.
