Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party’s national spokesperson and former Nandurbar MP Heena Gavit has resigned from the party’s primary membership after defying alliance directives by opposing Shiv Sena-Shinde’s Amashya Padvi in ​​Akkalkuwa constituency.

Gavit submitted his resignation to the party leadership after refusing to withdraw his candidacy against Padvi, the official candidate of the Mahayuti alliance. The state leadership reportedly warned him of disciplinary action if he did not withdraw from the competition. Earlier this year, Gavit lost his parliamentary seat to Goval Padvi, son of incumbent Akkalkuva MLA KC Padvi. Congress re-nominated KC Padvi from Akkalkuwa.
