Lok Sabha Speaker Emphasizes India’s Commitment to Human Rights

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reiterated India’s resolve to respect international laws and defend human rights, using the latest legislation as a testament to the country’s resolve. In his speech to diplomats from 83 countries, he explained the details of new laws protecting women’s dignity, following significant contributions from the parliament and public debate.

Birla’s statements came in response to the opposition’s allegations that their perspectives were ignored during the preparation of these laws. Despite such allegations, he highlighted India’s track record in reflecting its international commitments through domestic legislation, emphasizing gender equality and anti-discrimination measures.

The speaker also lauded the empowerment provided by Indian laws, stating that they ensure justice to the last citizen, the judiciary is respected as advocates of justice and equality, and strengthens India’s progressive legal framework.
