Uddhav Thackeray promises free education and women empowerment in Kolhapur campaign

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief and former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray kicked off his campaign for the Maharashtra state assembly in Kolhapur on Tuesday by making five key promises aimed at countering the Mahayuti government’s Ladli Bahena plan.

During the Kolhapur rally, Thackeray promised that once his government is elected, it will provide free education not only to girls but also to boys. “Boys are the pillars of the house, the same goes for girls, so both will get free education,” he said.

Thackeray also emphasized the importance of women’s safety and empowerment. “The state police stations will be made women-friendly by recruiting a large number of girls into the state police force. “In addition, by appointing female police officers to police stations, we will ensure that women who come to report crimes feel comfortable and can file complaints against the suspects,” he said.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader touched on the issue of employment and housing, asserting that Mumbai belongs to all Marathi people. “They should come to Mumbai to look for jobs and set up industries. We will give priority to Marathi people when it comes to job and housing allocation. Affordable housing will be provided so that everyone can buy a house in Mumbai. We will also ensure fair prices for products such as cotton, soybeans, onions and sugar cane. “Our government has waived farmer loans in the past, we will do this again when we return to power,” he promised.
