Rutherglen Street closed to traffic after collision involving cars and pedestrians

A street in South Lanarkshire has been closed following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Rutherglen following reports of the collision at around 4.10pm on Tuesday.

Officers closed streets between McCallum Avenue and Hamilton Road and road users were urged to avoid the area.

No further information was given about the injured.

The severity of the pedestrian’s injuries is not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 4.10pm on Tuesday, November 5, we received reports of an accident involving a car and a pedestrian on Rutherglen High Street.

“Emergency services are on standby and Main Street between McCallum Avenue and Hamilton Road is closed.

“Drivers are asked to stay away from the area”
