Man sentenced to prison in 2 counties for Criminal Sexual Conduct

LANSING, Mich. — A Bellaire man faces up to 40 years in prison after pleading ‘no contest’ to multiple first-degree charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct in both Calhoun and Allegan counties.

John Hendrickson, 59, was sentenced Monday to 17 to 40 years in prison by Calhoun County Judge John A. Hallacy for repeated sexual assault of a minor relative between 1999 and 2007.

Hendrickson was charged with a total of 9 felonies for attacks on his home and vehicle in Leroy Township and Allegan City.

The child was under the age of 15 at the time of these attacks.

“Sexual assault is a heinous crime that leaves permanent scars,” Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel said as the defendant took the stand. “The victim’s courage to come forward after years of abuse is truly inspiring.”

Once released, Hendrickson will be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring and sex offender registration.
