Landover man accused of fatally stabbing his brother

LANDOVER, MD. — Prince George’s County Police arrested and charged a Landover man who fatally stabbed his younger brother following a dispute Monday evening.

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Brilyen Kelly. He is accused of killing his sister, 23-year-old Simi Kelly, in the incident that occurred Nov. 4 in the 8600 block of Reicher Street.

Police officers arrived at the scene around 6 p.m. and found Simi Kelly outside with stab wounds. The person who was taken to the hospital was pronounced dead a short time later.

Allegedly, the stabbing occurred during an argument between two brothers. Brilyen Kelly was taken into custody at the scene by Landover Division III patrol officers. He is charged with first and second degree murder and is currently being held in the Department of Corrections.

The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
