NBA Announces Joel Embiid Before Clippers 76ers Match

Earlier today, reported There was hope within the Philadelphia 76ers organization that Joel Embiid could return to the lineup against the LA Clippers on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, these dreams of the 76ers were completely shattered with the NBA’s latest statement.

The NBA announced that it will suspend Embiid for three games after he pushed Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Marcus Hayes into the locker room on Saturday night. The league issued a press release regarding the penalty.

“Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been suspended three games without pay for pushing a member of the media, it was announced today by Vice President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars.”

The NBA explained its decision further in its press release, claiming that mutual respect between players and media is of paramount importance in the league.

“Mutual respect is very important in the relationship between players and the media in the NBA,” Dumars said. “While we understand that Joel was uncomfortable with the personal nature of the reporter’s original version of his piece, interactions should remain professional on both sides and never become physical.”

The press release states that Embiid’s suspension will begin with the first NBA regular season game he can play. So if Embiid is healthy enough to play against the Clippers on Wednesday, he will still have to miss the game due to his suspension.
