Nigeria: International Road Racer Mhlaba-Adebo Prepares for Lagos Women’s Race

Simultaneously, the Lagos Women’s Run Expo, which includes an empowerment program for women, also kicked off at the Delivery Balogun Stadium on Tuesday.

Renowned international road racer Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo received her jersey at the Delivery Balogun Stadium in Surulere on Tuesday. LagosAhead of the 9th edition of the Lagos Women’s Race scheduled for November 9th.

Ms Mhlaba-Adebo, Maoko Project Creative Chief, expressed her excitement for the 10km race and praised the organizers for their efforts. “I am a member of the National Association of Black Marathoners,” he said.

Ms Mhlaba-Adebo, who has an impressive racing CV, shared her experience: “I have run over 50 races, including the Chicago marathon, the Boston 10k for women, several half marathons and various 5km, 8km and 10km races.”

In addition to her racing background, Ms. Mhlaba-Adebo has almost a decade of experience in public health in the United States, particularly in Boston.

Specifically, he participated in the Boston marathon on April 17, 2023, raising more than $6,000 for students majoring in medical fields through the Middlesex County Chapter of Links Incorporated.

“I have heard great things about the Lagos Women’s Run and I am looking forward to an exciting time running the streets of Lagos,” added Ms. Mhlaba-Adebo.

Simultaneously, the Lagos Women’s Run Expo also kicked off with an empowerment program for women at the Delivery Balogun Stadium on Tuesday.

Organizer Tayo Popoola noted: “Alongside the kit collection, the women are learning new skills to sustain themselves financially.”

The 2024 Lagos Women’s Run is expected to attract over 10,000 participants and all runners who reach the starting point will be given gift vouchers to support them throughout the festive season.
