Olivia Colman to read The Gruffalo’s Child for CBeebies Bedtime Stories

Oscar winner Olivia Colman will read the sequel to her popular children’s story The Gruffalo as a CBeebies bedtime story.

The 50-year-old British actress follows in the footsteps of other famous faces including Zayn Malik, Kylie Minogue and Billie Eilish to bring storytelling to life at the BBC.

Writer Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler’s 2004 book The Gruffalo’s Child was chosen as the BBC’s Christmas Day movie in 2011.

Colman said: “I’ve loved CBeebies Bedtime Stories with my children over the years, I was thrilled to be able to read one. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.”

She has been married to Ed Sinclair since 2001 and they have three children.

In this great adventure, he meets Snake, Owl and Fox and sees something that looks like a mouse.

Colman first rose to fame as the on-off girlfriend of David Mitchell’s neurotic Mark in the British comedy Peep Show, before finding critical and commercial success in films.

As well as TV roles in The Night Manager, Fleabag, Broadchurch and The Crown, Colman has recently appeared in Paddington In Peru and Wicked Little Letters.

The episode will air on CBeebies Bedtime Stories on Friday, November 8 at 6.50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
